What we need...

Due to a period of sustained growth, we are looking to recruit a Junior QA Analyst to join our Solutions Team.

The primary purpose of the Junior QA Analyst is to assure the quality of software delivered by the Solutions team, in projects throughout the entire TerraQuest product suite by performing analysis, design and execution of functional and non-functional testing of software.

QA Analysts participate in reviews, workshops and triage, with the objective of improving quality and applying a quality first mentality, shifting the identification of issues and defects as early as possible in the SDLC. They feedback results and progress, and escalate any risks, issues or decisions to QA Manager or Lead.

Working closely with the entire scrum team, from developers to product owners, and collaborating with others in the QA team, Junior QA Analysts will work to improve ways of working, to implement a quality-minded way of thinking, and to assure the overall quality of TerraQuest’s products.

What you will be doing…

  • Perform analysis, design and execution of functional and non-functional testing of software.
  • Understand requirements to determine recommended test coverage in terms of new functionality and regression testing.
  • Attend all sprint events, including contributing to refinement, planning and review.
  • Perform QA on project artefacts (eg. user stories) to feedback to allow improvements on these artefacts and on the process as a whole.
  • Manage own usage of test data, capture test evidence, and ensure test results are accurate.
  • Create and maintain test artefacts to the defined standards, as well as supporting others in the same pursuit by performing peer test artefact reviews.
  • Participate in reviews and workshops to develop, improve the quality of, and sign-off specifications and other documentation.
  • Identify, log and track defects that contain sufficient information to support their resolution.
  • Attend triage meetings, support the team’s understanding of the defects under discussion and feed into the QA Lead’s decisions.
  • Manage own workload; understand priorities and commitments in order to plan work.
  • Keep up to date on current technologies, tools and software test methodologies (both those used by TerraQuest and those used in the industry).
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the TerraQuest Solutions and delivery teams.
  • Adherence to all Regulatory, Security and Compliance requirements.

What we are looking for…

The ideal candidate may have anywhere from 0-2 years of experience and be educated to degree level or have relevant equal experience. Ideally, they will have completed the ISTQB Foundation Level Certification or equivalent, and have demonstrable experience working commercially in a software development environment in a QA capacity. They would therefore have an excellent understanding of software testing best practices and their applications, experience of agile methodologies across multiple projects, and experience using defect management and ALM tools. However, as this is an entry-level/junior position, experience can be exchanged for the right ready-to-learn attitude and team fit.

No matter their experience, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to communicate effectively about IT and technology in plain language and non-technical terms to colleagues and clients, and have an ability to work calmly and methodically when under pressure. It will be necessary for them to have a strong desire to learn and have a passion for QA.

Further advantages include experience of design, compatibility and accessibility testing, understanding of automation fundamentals, experience using programming languages like JS or C#, experience using Cypress or related automation tools, experience in API testing using tools like Postman, experience with SQL, and previous exposure to Azure DevOps as a test management tool.
