What we need...
Due to a period of sustained growth, we are looking to hire a GIS specialist to join our Birmingham office.
Working in a team of GIS specialists alongside our test and service desk teams developing and supporting the submission of online applications and the spatial enablement of data to meet a breadth of business requirements.
Looking to develop a career in an environment that has engaged both waterfall and agile methodologies with core principles following a blend of these to enable swift development within a structured framework.
Gaining knowledge and experience in working on the enhancement of one of the UK’s major web-based application process solutions amongst many other spatially enabled solutions and looking to develop your experience of solutions with responsive design at their centre.
What you will be doing…
- Working with geographical information systems, standards, technologies, and data
- Transform spatial data between different data sources and/or formats
- Work as part of a team to maintain and manage spatial data
- Performing spatial analysis to address business questions and requirements
- Developing new solutions using spatial data
- Style and Theme data for presentation by the modern web mapping application
- Support legacy spatial data and software
- Provide knowledge and expertise to the rest of the development team
- Keep up to date with the latest Geo-Spatial technologies
What we are looking for…
Must-haves:
- Working Knowledge of GIS and spatial data
- Including Vector and Raster data
- Understanding of the OGC standard
- Familiarity with commonly used spatial data formats (Shapefiles, GeoJSON, GML, …)
- Ability to transform spatial data between different data sources and/or formats
- Experience using Desktop GIS Tools and packages
- Knowledge of Web Mapping Services
- To Serve Spatial data to the web mapping application
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with SQL Databases
- Knowledge of a Programming language
- Knowledge of working with FME
- Knowledge of GeoServer
- Knowledge of Azure cloud technology
- Working as part of an Agile team
Non-technology:
- Must be a team player
- Should have previous experience working in an agile software development team to deliver solutions into a production-ready state
- Should be able to take ownership of ticket/user story from planning to presentation
- Should be DevOps aware
