Role- UX Designer

Location- Birmingham office 3 days per week, 2 days remote

Salary up to £55k

 

TerraQuest is looking to add an experienced UX designer to the design team. This role reports into the UX/UI Lead and sits within a multidisciplinary solutions team.

The primary focus of the role is to produce data driven design solutions in response to business needs. These will mostly be delivered to our users via our suite of digital products. As a UX designer you need to learn about our users and be their advocate in the design process, whilst balancing technical implementation and business goals throughout the design process.

 

The team

You will be joining a growing, experienced, and evolving team that is embedded in the agile development product cycles at TerraQuest. Collaboration, shared learning, and user centred design are at the heart of what the UX/UI team do and shapes the solutions delivered by the scrum teams we support.

The Product Management Team within Solutions includes Product Owners, Business Analysts, UX/UI Designers and User Researcher roles.

These roles all work with or within SCRUM Teams, that include, a SCRUM Master, Product Owner, Architect, Developers and Quality Assurance Analyst. SCRUM teams are also supported by DevOps.

 

Principle accountabilities - What you will be doing

  • Working directly with (but not exclusive too), Product owners, Business analysts, SME’s and business stakeholders to understand business and product needs
  • Developing evidence-based hypotheses to respond to business needs
  • Running discovery and research phases of projects
  • Conducting user testing throughout UX phases to validate concepts
  • Activities and deliverables including but not restricted to; Journey/experience mapping, information architecture, wireframing and advanced prototyping
  • Collaborating with fellow designers and sharing work on projects
  • UI hand off and support
  • Peer reviewing of team member’s work
  • Mentoring more junior team members­­

Person specification - What we are looking for

  • Ideally 5 years’ experience as a UX designer
  • Empathetic, user focused and adaptable to business and technical requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to work on multiple projects
  • Confident presenting ideas, giving and receiving feedback and collaborating on live designs
  • Familiar with agile development processes
  • Experience with industry standard tools, Sketch, Figma, XD, Axure, Protopie, Invision. As a team UI work is currently produced in Sketch.
  • Comfortable taking business requirements and producing technically viable, user centred solutions
  • Enjoys working with end users to qualify concepts
  • A portfolio or cases study(s) showcasing the candidates application of a UX process and the real-world solutions implemented.
  • Experience applying of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Mentoring experience
  • Experience running design workshops
  • Experience as part of design team
  • Experience producing dev ready UI designs

  • Demonstrable UI design skills and experience
  • Experience with ADO or Jira
  • Degree or equivalent in a design specialism
